GLAZE in After Effects

Apply GLAZE to a layer, shape the look in native Effect Controls or the optional Adobe panel, then render your composition.

You need the Adobe + DaVinci or Complete edition for Mac. This guide uses the released 1.0.7.11 plugin installer. Standalone's DMG does not install this effect.

1. Install and activate

Save your projects, finish renders and quit Adobe editing apps, After Effects Render Engine, Resolve and GLAZE Activation. Run your order's plugin PKG through successful completion.

Open GLAZE Activation and enter your purchase email and order number online. If needed, Finder's Go > Go to Folder takes you to /Library/Application Support/Faceworld Video/.

2. Prepare a composition

Open a project or create one and import a short clip. Place the clip in a composition, select its layer and move the playhead to a frame where the image is visible.

For the first pass, work on a copy of a composition you can safely experiment with. Keep one intended layer selected.

3. Apply the native effect

1. Open Effects & Presets.
2. Search GLAZE under Faceworld Instruments.
3. Drag the effect onto your footage layer.
4. Select that layer and open Effect Controls.

Check the layer selection before changing a value. If an existing project already uses GLAZE, select its current effect instance rather than adding another unintentionally.

4. Choose and adjust a look

Choose a factory preset under GLOBAL > Preset, preview a few seconds and then change one setting at a time. Keep your selected layer's native Effect Controls visible while learning the controls.

The optional GLAZE CRT Extended UI panel is available from Window > Extensions or Extensions (Legacy), depending on the After Effects version. Open it with the GLAZE layer selected.

The panel is another way to adjust the applied effect; it is not a separate effect to add to the composition. If it is missing or does not follow selection, you can continue in native Effect Controls.

In the panel, expanding a module reveals more detailed controls. For example, Color Signal exposes Chroma Level. Recheck the selected layer when moving between shots.

5. Save the composition and a reusable look

Save your After Effects project with File > Save. That preserves the composition and its effect settings; it does not render a movie or copy the source media.

To reuse a static look through After Effects:

1. Select the GLAZE effect in Effect Controls.
2. Choose Animation > Save Animation Preset.
3. Name and save the preset in the user Presets folder.
4. Apply it from Effects & Presets to another selected layer.

Check a fresh layer first so you do not unintentionally stack effects. Adobe animation presets are host files; do not treat them as interchangeable with Standalone user presets.

To save a personal preset in GLAZE CRT Extended UI, use the panel’s SAVE control to store the selected effect’s current host values. Saving with an existing name updates that personal preset.

6. Animate carefully

For parameters with an After Effects stopwatch, use the host's keyframes: set a starting value, enable animation, move the playhead and change the value. Preview the transition and save the project.

Do not assume every control is animatable or switch factory presets in the middle of setting up a keyed look. Start with one numeric control and a short test.

The native Preset menu and group master controls apply changes while editing; they are not keyframe lanes. Animate individual detail parameters that expose host animation controls.

7. Render your first result

1. Select the composition.
2. Choose Composition > Add to Render Queue.
3. Review Render Settings, including the frame range and quality.
4. Open Output Module and choose the format you need.
5. Set Output To to a new movie file and select Render.
6. Open the exported file and check framing, motion, color, duration and audio.

A ProRes editing master is a useful first check when available in your output module. Use the host's export settings for final frame size and codec; GLAZE's processing controls do not replace them.

If something is missing or fails

Restart After Effects once after a successful install. Confirm the correct layer is selected and that it has the native GLAZE effect. A missing optional panel is different from a missing effect.

For an export problem, try the same short section with GLAZE disabled and note whether the error remains. Include After Effects version, macOS, Mac model, package filename and exact message when contacting support.
