GLAZE in DaVinci Resolve

Apply GLAZE as an OpenFX effect to a timeline clip, adjust its native controls and render from Resolve.

You need the Adobe + DaVinci or Complete edition for Mac and the released 1.0.7.11 plugin installer.

Using Resolve Free? Contact support with your macOS and Resolve version so we can confirm your setup before you buy.

1. Install and activate

Save your work, finish renders and quit Resolve, the Adobe editing apps and GLAZE Activation. Install the plugin PKG and wait for successful completion.

Activate online with your purchase email and order number in GLAZE Activation. If needed, use Finder's Go > Go to Folder and enter /Library/Application Support/Faceworld Video/.

Reopen Resolve. See Installation and activation for the complete workflow.

2. Prepare a timeline

Open a project and bring a short clip into the Media Pool. Place it on a timeline in the Edit page. Select that timeline clip and position the playhead over a visible frame.

Start with one clip and one GLAZE instance. This makes it easier to learn the controls and compare the result.

3. Apply the OpenFX effect

  1. Open the Effects Library and its OpenFX / Open FX section.
  2. Search GLAZE, under Faceworld Instruments.
  3. Drag GLAZE onto the intended video clip in the timeline.
  4. With that clip selected, open the Inspector and its effect controls.

Exact labels can differ between Resolve versions. Look for the applied GLAZE effect rather than the Adobe Extended UI: that panel is for Adobe hosts and does not appear in Resolve.

4. Choose and adjust a look

Choose a factory preset under GLOBAL > Preset, such as HANDICAM, and play a short section. Expand the native GLAZE control groups to refine the look.

Start with a small adjustment in one group. Compare the treated shot with the effect disabled through Resolve's effect control, then re-enable it before the final render.

Keep the selected clip and playhead aligned. A different selected clip can show different controls even while the viewer displays the playhead's shot.

5. Save and reuse your work

Save the Resolve project with File > Save Project. Your applied GLAZE settings remain part of that project's clip treatment. Keep the source media available; saving the project is not the same as rendering a movie.

For a first repeatable workflow, keep a named timeline containing your treated clip and make a separate timeline for variations. Choose a different factory preset on a new version rather than losing the look you want to keep.

A factory preset is a starting look. Do not assume that Adobe preset files or Standalone user presets can be imported into Resolve.

6. Optional: animate an exposed parameter

Where Resolve exposes a keyframe control for a GLAZE parameter, use the host control to set a starting value, move later in the clip and set another value.

Start with one numeric parameter and preview the transition. If a control has no animation option in your version, leave it static rather than assuming the entire preset can be keyframed.

The native Preset menu and group master controls apply changes while editing; they are not keyframe lanes. Animate individual detail parameters that expose host animation controls.

7. Render the timeline

  1. Open the Deliver page.
  2. Choose an output preset or set the required format, codec and destination.
  3. Check the filename, frame size, frame rate, audio and timeline range.
  4. Choose Add to Render Queue.
  5. Check the queued job, then choose Render All.
  6. Open the saved movie and inspect its framing, look, motion, duration and audio.

Use a short timeline for the first render. Codec choices depend on the Resolve version and edition; use an option available in your installation. GLAZE's quality controls do not replace the Deliver page's output settings.

If the effect does not appear or export fails

Confirm the plugin installation completed, then restart Resolve once. Search OpenFX for GLAZE. Do not copy plugin bundles between system and user folders.

For an export failure, render the same short timeline with GLAZE disabled and note whether the failure remains. Tell support your Resolve version and Free/Studio edition, macOS, Mac model, package filename and exact error.
